Today is Fat Tuesday so I thought it appropriate to share my latest cake creation – a two-tiered Mardi Gras cake! The bottom tier is gluten free chocolate fudge cake with fluffy vanilla buttercream and fresh sliced strawberries. The top is gluten free vanilla cake with chocolate buttercream mousse and homemade butterscotch. YUM! The mask was handmade by yours truly with gumpaste, candy pearls, and lots of edible glitter.

I’m not even sure these sinful little treats even need an introduction. I mean, look at the fluffiness, the cinnamon-y brown sugar goodness, and the icing. These babies are magnificent.
In other awesome news, I decided to start selling my gluten free goodies THIS WEEKEND (!!) at the Half Moon Bay Farmer’s Market. I received all my health permits earlier this month and my market tent just arrived in the mail today. So I decided, what the heck, why wait another week when I can start now?! I’ll be sure to post pictures

Check out these super cute jumbo gluten free sugar cookie hearts! The cookie itself is not too overly sweet and is very soft… (Hubby looooves sugar cookies and he gives these two thumbs up!) and the icing is a semi-hard royal icing with a hint of lemon. Mmmm. So much yummier than giving your Valentine a box of chocolates from the drugstore… hint hint
I had such a blast making this gluten free smurf themed birthday cake back in December!
The cake was a chocolate fudge half sheet with creamy vanilla (smurf blue!) buttercream. I made two fondant 2-D smurfs by hand and drew on their features with edible ink. SO so much fun! Isn’t Smurfette such a beauty? Making 2-D fondant characters may be one of my new favorite cake decorating techniques! I also added lots of edible glitter on all of the fondant flowers. What birthday girl doesn’t like glitter?
