My dear friend and neighbor had a birthday at the end of March and I wanted to make her something special. I made a six inch round cake with two layers of chocolate cake and one vanilla and covered it in a delicious creamy vanilla buttercream.
Since we’re lucky California starts blooming early (even before official spring!) I wanted her cake to include some gerbera daisies and tiny yellow blossoms to celebrate the season. I also speckled the icing with a cocoa powder/ vanilla extract mix and a clean brush (super messy and fun!) to make it look similar to a Robin’s egg.
I loved making this cake. And it was delicious. Happy Birthday Kristina! I’m so lucky to have you in my life!
